LILIPUTVariable Dimensions
Installation Found Objects, 2018 14.8 x 21.0 cm Digital Photographs, Inkjet Ink Blotted Ink on Fine Art Paper, 2018 Drawing from its namesake, Lilliput was a mini golf course at big splash that was highly popular family recreational spot in the 2000s. Opened in 2003 at the turn of the new millennium, it was equipped with 18 holes spanning the area of five tennis courts, scattered with different miniature landmarks of Singapore. It’s format consisting of an amalgamation of various landscapes became a basis of reference for all three artists to begin from - a tiny theme park of bite sized measure - traversing a small space of multiplicity. A campy counterpart to what is considered a luxurious sport on a manicured green. Lilliput is a gist of its original form that is made entertaining and reduced for accessible enjoyment. The artists aim to transform the gallery into a space, twice removed from the relaxing resort form of golf. Working at different reflections of “other” spaces, with intersections that traverse architecture, place-making and memes. |
