Un(der)cover59.4 x 84.1 cm
Digital photography Matte fine art print mounted, 2013 Un(der)cover observes the action of how people shift with the shadows casted onto the streets, during certain times of the day to avoid the harsh sunlight. Every time the shadow shifts, the people often start to move with it to be shaded. The action of shifting with the shadow therefore uncovers a ‘new’ piece of land. This also reflects on the relationship we have with our land, how we define a ‘newfound land’, especially in cities like Singapore, where land has to be constantly reused due to limited space. Like how once in awhile when we run low in space, we’d knock down an old building and a land that has once been covered for years would be revealed. And something new would take its place there, repeating over and over again. |
